Who am I ?

General Intro

Hey, I am glad that you took a few moments to watch out for my personal website!

So let me start by briefing you a bit about myself. I, Harvijay am a PhD graduate in Structural molecular virology & Biochemistry and currently working as a R&D scientists in Molecular Diagnostic company based in Michigan, US. I am working to improving & advancing the access to fast and accurate diagnosis of disease for the patients by developing multiplex diagnostics assays that have a direct correlation with the improved clinical outcome for patients and general public.

Through this web portal, my aim is to provide a well balanced and a detailed insider glance into various aspect of my life and work - and to summarize my view on a variety of matters ranging from general science to complex and unheard phenomenon of nature, my philosophy of the world to spiritual self of one, from adventurous travel anecdote to the fascinating world of space and universe and much more of that sort. Hope it will be fun. (Blog and Miscellany are under construction!)

I am up all ears to hear your feedback and forge meaningful collaborations & partnerships.

Please feel free to drop me a note , shall you need to!

My Bio (An inside out view)

I consider myself to be someone who more often than not, happens to be at the right place at the right time and never shy away from converting a challenge into an opportunity and translating that opportunity into reality. This philosophy has constituted heavily to my hypothesis of building a career by doing what I love. Early in life when I had a vision for my professional future, I’ve been focused and goal driven. With sound learning and invaluable experiences I got in the academic & professional setting during my studies in different Universities and Institutions, I became a skilled and confident researcher to serve the purpose of Science with an overarching goal of benefitting humanity with my presence on Earth.

I’m thrilled to say that I’ve learned from so many trained professionals in my field, but I know that I still have so much to learn from others in the field of research and academics and this everlasting thirst of knowing and learning more formulate the foundation of my motivation in life. I like to believe that I am a hard worker, critical thinker and a team player with an excitement and will to benefit the horizons of biological research for the well fare of community.

Academics & Research Experience

Home: Experience

Bachelor of Sciences (B.Sc.)

July 2006 - May 2009

Upon the completion of my schooling, I was admitted to the college for the undergraduate studies with three of the most fascinating subject of natural science i.e., Chemistry, Zoology and Botany at Gochar Mahavidlaya, Rampur Maniharan, Saharanpur, India. This college is located in a small yet vibrant Town of Rampur near Saharnpur and was affiliated to CCS University Meerut, India.
I have completed this degree in the year 2009, during which I got to learn in depth about the vast and amazing world of biological & chemical sciences with a particular focus in microbiology, Biochemistry and environmental sciences. I highly regard this time of my career to be the time when I got to explore and choose the subjects which interests me the most.
At the completion of my B.Sc. I have decided to pursuit higher studies to gain a better understanding of disease and ailment which in humans are caused  by

viruses and bacteria. Besides, I have also explored and developed my interest in other aspects of life, of which sports and polity came out as the most prominent ones.

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

July 2009 - June 2011

The period of masters studies has been the most inspiring one of my academic life which had almost set the tone up for my future goals.
I always wanted to study biology and for that matter I was willing to take up microbiology as my major during masters. However the destiny (A story, I would like to tell in person 😁) had something else in store and I ended up doing a masters in Toxicology.
As it turned out, I studied various streams of Toxicology for two years and developed a strong knowledge base about the human physiology and the adverse effects of environmental toxicants and drugs on it in multiple ways.

However, I realize that my will and thirst to study microbiology has never taken the back sit and it still is the most interesting subject I ever wanted to study and learn more about. So after completing the M.Sc. in toxicology I have decided to enter into the exciting field of active laboratory research for pursuing a Ph.D. As a prerequisite I have wrote and cleared national level entrance exam to became admissible in to a Ph.D. program.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

January 2013 - December 2018

After clearing the national level Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE- 2012 & 2013), I was admitted in to a Ph.D. program in the prestigious lab of Dr. Shailly Tomar at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. This lab was known for working in the area of virology and structural biology.
During my Ph.D. I was fortunate enough to work with and under the leadership of learned & able researchers and scientists in my lab, from whom I have learnt a great deal of skill and acquired confidence.

I have primarily focused on the biochemical characterization and structural determination of of viral proteins for the purpose of therapeutic development against the disease caused by Chikungunya virus. I am elated to admit that my research work during PhD has led us to identify two small molecules that have shown anti-Chikungunya virus activities in the experimental settings and a potential to be developed as therapeutic dug candidate for the treatment of the debilitating disease caused by Chikungunya in humans.

Notably, during this period of my life, I have also got various opportunities to travel different part of the India and overseas which has essentially helped me expand the horizons of my outlook not only for my work but also added invaluable experiences in my bag.
